Dr. Peters Burtons experience as an engineer and a secondary science teacher for 15 years helps her relate research to practice in science and engineering education. She has won several state and national awards for her work in secondary science education and holds a National Board Certification in Early Adolescent Science. In 2005, Dr. Peters Burton was selected as an Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellow for the NASA where she advised the agency in their development of curriculum for teachers across the United States.

Judi Fusco is a research social scientist at SRI International’s Center for Technology in Learning. In her research, she focuses on examining the social and technical supports necessary to support learning in community, and investigating and creating new models for online teacher professional development. From 1997 – 2013, she was director for online community development in one of the first online communities for teachers on the web, Tapped In.

Marianne Bakia is a program director for SRI International’s Center for Technology in Learning. She leads educational technology research and development projects in the United States and abroad, in both K12 and higher education. She also manages CTL’s office in Washington, D.C. Bakia was trained as an economist specializing in education policy, and her work focused on blending qualitative and quantitative data to identify ways to support at-risk students in online and blended environments
